Accessing legal help is the biggest barrier to gaining asylum. VAAP is building a legal help network to ensure as many asylum seekers in Vermont are granted safety.

Asylum legal help not only improves asylum seekers’ case outcomes long term. Most immediately, we help individuals and families to stabilize their removal proceedings and access work-authorized social security numbers, so they can participate fully and safely in the regulated economy.
