Our Story
Cofounded by volunteers in 2021, incorporated in 2023, and staffed in 2024, Vermont Asylum Assistance Project (VAAP) is a legal services and technical assistance organization that exists to raise Vermont noncitizens’ awareness of and access to critical immigration legal help and support.
-

Our Impact
Driven by a growing cadre of talented staff, service learners, and volunteers, we pursue whole-sector advancement by building on trusted community infrastructure, adapting proven models to meet proven local needs, and right-sizing immigration legal infrastructure to ensure equitable access statewide.
-

Our Library
We don’t want to leave unrepresented immigrants unsupported, so we curate a Resource Library, a clearinghouse of nationally recognized and original materials designed to give Vermont communities easy access to trusted guidance and tools on immigration and related issues.
-

Our Newsletters
Stay connected by subscribing to our newsletter, where we collate links to the latest local immigration news, organizational updates, and opportunities to take action. Delivered right to your inbox, it’s the best way to stay informed and engaged with VAAP’s work across Vermont communities.

Our Services

Our Advocacy
VAAP engages in advocacy in solidarity with community organizers—working in the executive and legislative branches, at the Vermont State House, and with Vermont’s congressional delegation—to advance policies that protect immigrant communities. Learn more on our Advocacy page.
